This Sunday, October 12, marks the beginning of the 70th Annual WCA Conference, held once again this year in Sauk County at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. Running through Tuesday, October 14, this year's agenda is packed full of national and state speakers, timely breakout sessions on critical county issues and educational meetings.
Registration opens Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and goes until 7:00 p.m. Please go to the WCA Booth, located outside of the WCA Marketplace (Suites I-VIII). You can also pick up materials or find WCA Staff at this location on Monday, October 13 from 7:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 14 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Monday's Second General Assembly, from 10:00-11:45 a.m., features Michael Morgan, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration, as well as a coffee table discussion on the Wisconsin Way, an effort to engage and energize the public in a discourse on Wisconsin's inconsistent tax structure and economy. Speakers at the discussion include Mike Theo, Vice President of Legal and Public Affairs of the Wisconsin Realtors Association; Patrick Goss, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association; Craig Thompson, Executive Director of the Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin; Dan Burkhalter, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Education Association Council, and Mark D. O'Connell, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Counties Association. In addition, Major General (Retired) Albert Wilkening will speak.
Tuesday's General Assembly, from 8:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m., includes Jim Wood, President of Wood Communications Group; Richard Klemme, Interim Dean and Director of UW-Extension; Dr. David Wilson, Chancellor of UW Colleges and UW-Extension; and Mark D. O'Connell, WCA Executive Director. In addition, teacher and student participants from the County/School Partnership Program will provide an update on the program.
The Wisconsin Women in County Government will gather for their annual breakfast meeting on Monday, October 13 at 6:30 a.m. in the Cypress Room at the Kalahari Resort at the WCA Annual Conference. This year's theme is "Women's Health in Wisconsin" and speakers include Dr. Teresa Woods, Director of Cancer Psychology at the University of Wisconsin's Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center and Assistant Professor at the UW Department of Psychiatry.
Other speakers include Patti Wohfoil, Waushara County Health Department and Kim Hurtz, Aegis Corporation.
The companion event to the WCA Annual Conference is the WCA Marketplace, held at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center. Among displays of products and services will be familiar vendors that counties have come to rely on, as well as those offering new products and services to help meet the expanding demands of governing Wisconsin's counties.

Tuesday, October 14: 7:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
In addition, the WCA Marketplace features a luncheon and exhibitor reception on Monday, as well as a breakfast on Tuesday morning.All registered conference attendees are invited to attend these events.
