The Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors was honored with the 2008 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Collaboration during the recent Chancellor's Awards Ceremony on September 18 at the Lowell Center in Madison hosted by UW Colleges/UW-Extension Chancellor David Wilson.
Chancellor Wilson selected the board for the annual award as a result of the Sheboygan County Board's vision and support of expanded learning and outreach opportunities made possible by the co-location of the University of Wisconsin-Extension Sheboygan County Office on the UW-Sheboygan campus. The annual Chancellor's Awards recognize the exceptional teaching, outreach, collaborations and public services of both UW Colleges and UW-Extension employees, as well as valued partners and supporters, such as the Sheboygan County Board.
"These annual awards recognize the trailblazing university extension and undergraduate education work being done here in Wisconsin," Wilson said. "This year's recipients were honored for their work in providing maximum access to university resources and knowledge, so that the people of Wisconsin can enjoy healthy lives, qualify for well-paying jobs, and contribute to economically and intellectually vigorous Wisconsin communities," he added.
The Sheboygan County UW-Extension Office relocated from its Sheboygan Falls location to the UW-Sheboygan campus in spring 2008. The County Board spearheaded the move to the campus in an effort to provide a new synergy of support and collaboration between both institutions.
The newly remodeled lower level of the UW-Sheboygan Learning Resources Building (specifically the former UW-Sheboygan Battig Memorial Library space) is the UW-Extension Office's new home and features three classrooms, a conference room, modern offices and a work room. In addition, UW-Extension staff also partners with UW-Sheboygan to utilize other campus space as needed for Extension activities. |
