The 2008 Budget Adjustment Bill (2007 Act 226) included a provision requiring $270 million in new lapses from various state agencies. These lapses are in addition to $226 million in lapses required in 2007 Act 20, the 2007-09 biennial budget bill.
The Department of Administration has released a list of which agencies they will be requiring to lapse funds under Act 226 and an amount for each of the 17 agencies listed. In general, this round of lapses is being asked of larger agencies rather than small ones. Agencies are to come up with plans to accomplish their lapses by November 17, 2008. The proposals will be reviewed and perhaps modified before being implemented in the fourth quarter of FY 2008-09.
See DOA's announcement of the agencies and the lapses sought by clicking here.
