Foth In this age of budget deficits and shrinking revenues, county governments and municipalities are constantly looking for ways to provide needed services with fewer resources. Cooperative service initiatives, regionalization of services and other innovative approaches are helping governments do more with less.

As a Wisconsin-based consulting firm working closely with counties and other local governments, Foth believes broader recognition of these efforts will help foster their growth, and improve performance for all stakeholders. In 2003, Foth launched the Wisconsin Good Government Award to recognize the best of these initiatives.

Nominations for the 2008 Wisconsin Good Government Awards will be accepted starting May 5, 2008, at the website www.wisgoodgov.com.

A coalition of transportation organizations rallied at the state Capitol today in support of using transportation revenues to address growing infrastructure needs and create jobs throughout Wisconsin.

The rally was held as legislative leadership and Gov. Jim Doyle continue to negotiate ways to address the state's $525 million General Fund deficit.  Transportation supporters urged their legislators today to reject proposed transfers from the segregated Transportation Fund to pay for non-transportation programs and services, even if borrowing is used to replace lost transportation revenue.  Quick budget action is needed to prevent highway project reductions and further construction job losses.

The Wauwatosa Public Library is doing a four-month long "Travel Wisconsin" campaign and needs your help.  If your county could send two paper county maps, along with any travel, event or promotional material, it would help the library complete its collection, as well as showcase your county.  They are requesting 100 copies of promotional materials.

"A special thanks to all those counties who have already sent information and we'd love to have others send us their materials," said Mary Griffith. "We hope to encourage people to visit all that Wisconsin has to offer and any assistance would be greatly appreciated."
