The official Christmas tree of the White House is an 18-ft Fraiser Fir that comes from Misteltoe Meadows Tree Farm in Laurel Springs, N.C. It will be on display in the Blue Room for the 2007 season.

Last week Governor Doyle announced his "Next Generation Agriculture" Plan - a strategic investment to prepare Wisconsin farms for the future. According to Doyle, these new initiatives totaling more than $33 million will move the dairy and agriculture industry forward by providing more resources to modernize and innovate, capture new markets, and seize new green opportunities.

A new study published last week by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), produced by a task force they staffed on Community Preventive Services, makes a strong case for returning youth offenders to the juvenile justice system. According to the report, transferring youth to the adult criminal justice system significantly increases crime and has a negative effect on public safety. The report notes that youth who have been previously tried as adults are over one-third more likely to commit crimes than youth retained in the juvenile justice system.

The 2008 WCA Annual Conference is fast approaching and we need your help!!!
Each year, we invite our membership to provide us with ideas for the Conference theme, breakout sessions, speakers and opening general session presenters. Your input is a valuable resource for the WCA Conference Program Planning Committee, scheduled to meet in February, charged with the task of making recommendations to the WCA Executive Committee regarding the topics for the educational programming at the WCA Conference.
If you have any ideas to help make our 2008 Annual Conference a success, we would like to hear from you.
