sealAs with any document the size of the 2007-2009 Biennial State Budget that was passed by the Assembly last week, the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) recognizes there are a multitude of issues that can positively or negatively impact the state's 72 counties all within the same document.

"As with every state budget, there are items we like and dislike," said WCA Executive Director Mark D. O'Connell. "This version is no different and while there are things that will benefit counties and the taxpayers, there are also some issues that will present significant challenges to county governments around Wisconsin."

racine coCounty Executive Bill McReynolds has announced that Racine County will receive its fifth consecutive award for its use of information technology (IT) to deliver services to county residents.  The recognition comes out of the 2007 Digital Counties Survey, conducted by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NaCo).  Among all the counties in its population category, Racine County placed third, its fifth top-10 ranking in a row and its highest place ever.
