Last week Governor Jim Doyle unveiled WisconsinCare, a new program to provide seniors with access to life-saving prescription drugs at a price they can afford, without all the complications and donut holes found in Medicare Part D.  The program replaces SeniorCare, Wisconsin's successful prescription drug program for seniors.

ESGROn March 28, county officials attended the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Annual "Boss Lift" event. 
 
The day showcased the value, mission and quality of the work done by the Wisconsin Air National Guard to employers of Guard service members.  Over 27 employers and county officials attended the annual event that began at the 128th Air Refueling Wing and included a flight to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, as well as an air refueling of two F-16 aircraft.

SealThe Legislature will be in floor session this week, wrapping up a floor period scheduled to end May 17. Both houses are tentatively scheduled to be on the floor on Wednesday, May 16.

The Legislature's Wisconsin Legislative Notification Service makes following the legislative process easier for interested citizens. Registered users can receive daily or weekly emails when specified legislative activity occurs. For example, users may choose to be notified about every action affecting a specific proposal, bills introduced by a particular legislator, activities of a specific committee or introductions relating to a particular topic.

The Wisconsin Counties Association is offering a free workshop to learn about the Microsoft Class Action Settlement and how to file claims.  Wisconsin consumers and businesses that bought Microsoft software, or a computer on which it was installed, can claim benefits under a class action settlement with a face value of $223,896,000.

Mutual The Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation, in partnership with Local 882 and the Milwaukee County Risk Management Department, will hold the Milwaukee County Highway Safety ROADeo next week.

The event focuses on safety and education and includes a timed road course, vehicle inspection, "What do you know about the CDL," and other educational sessions and speakers.

As a part of its ongoing training for member counties and municipalities, the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual) and Community Insurance Corporation, along with the Mutual's Advanced Law Enforcement Training (A.L.E.R.T.) program, will offer a seminar on June 8, 2007 entitled, "Media Relations for Law Enforcement."
