WCA Legislative Director Craig Thompson announced last week he will be leaving the Association after 15 years to take a position as the new Transportation Development Association (TDA) Executive Director.  Read on for his farewell letter.

Barkers IslandDuring the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) strategic planning process, increasing communications with counties was identified as a top priority.  As part of our effort to increase communications, WCA will be holding regional legislative meetings on an annual basis.
 
A regional legislative meeting has been scheduled for the Northwest District of the Wisconsin Counties Association on Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Barkers Island Inn, 300 Marina Drive, Superior, Wisconsin beginning at 1:00 p.m.

The Wisconsin County Human Service Association (WCHSA) is creating a part-time contract position that will provide administrative services, technical advice and association representation.  The contracted individual must show success in interacting with human services board members and administrators, public agency personnel, providers of services, legislators and the public.  The position requires some overnight travel, public speaking ability, negotiation skills, computer skills and securing sufficient revenues.  Send two copies of resume by May 15, 2007 to the Wisconsin Counties Association at 22 East Mifflin Street, Suite 900, Madison, WI 53703.  For more information, click here

 

US CommunitiesU.S. Communities is pleased to announce that Fairfax County, Virginia, after a nationally advertised competitive solicitation, has awarded Allsteel, Haworth, Herman Miller, Krueger International (KI) and Knoll a contract for office furniture.  The contract was awarded through the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance and is available for use by public agencies nationwide effective May 1, 2007.
